Low Brass Studio of Josh Barro
Josh has been teaching private trombone and euphonium lessons in the Treasure Valley since 2012. His philosophy as an educator is to help develop each student into a better musician through intensive studies of their instrument and its music. At the core of each lesson is focus on the fundamentals of the instrument and how to practice. His students have had successful auditions into Idaho All-State Symphonic Band, All-Northwest Symphonic Band, College Music Programs, and their respective school programs.
Location: All lessons are currently taught online via Zoom for the foreseeable future due to COVID-19.
When in-person lessons restart, they are taught in my home studio located behind Centennial High School. The neighborhood is located between Chinden and McMillan just off of Cloverdale.
Lesson Lengths and Pricing: There are two lesson lengths to choose from, 60 minutes or 30 minutes. Contact me for pricing.
I suggest younger students (5th, 6th, 7th) start with 30 minute lessons. Older students (7th-12th) are typically in 60 minute lessons.
Scheduling: I currently teach only on weekends. Please contact me for specific scheduling!
- Payment Policy – Lesson payment must happen either prior to or at the beginning of the lesson. Payments can be made via CashApp, Venmo, check or cash. Payments via CashApp can be sent to $jbtrombone and payments via Venmo can be sent to @jbtrombone . Families can choose to pay for each individual lesson, the month as a whole, or quarterly. There is a 48 hour grace period for late payments after which there will be a $5 late fee applied for every week it is late. Full hour lesson price is $35 — Half hour lesson price is $20.
- Lesson Cancellation Policy – Notification of lesson cancellation must be made at least 24 hours in advance unless it is an emergency. You can notify me of any cancellations through email or text. If the lesson is not cancelled prior to the 24 hour cut-off (and it is not an emergency) the fee will still stand.
- Online Lesson Policy – In order for online lessons to work, students must play to be engaged 100% of the time. This means limiting or eliminating distractions in their environment. If possible, find a quiet place away from naturally noisy areas such as the kitchen, laundry area, or tv/entertainment area. We use Zoom, Skype, or Discord for lessons. Please have a device ready to go by your student’s lesson time.
